No-shows and cancellations will still be charged unless we receive at least 24 hours notice. We do not do make-up lessons for No -shows. Lessons canceled within 24 hours prior may be made up if there are times available. You are allowed one make up lesson in a three month period. Lessons that cannot be made-up will not be eligible for a refund.

Method of Instruction

Piano lessons are taught on a Piano lessons are taught on 2 grand pianos. Several different series of lesson books are available. The instructor will suggest what they think is best for the student. If you have a continuing student who has already started with a series of lesson books, we are happy to continue that series if you would prefer.

The theory manuscript workbooks are a great addition to their lesson books because they reinforce note-reading through    written exercises. In addition, rhythmic, melodic and interval concept instruction is provided.

Each student will need to purchase a lesson book, a manuscript theory workbook, and a practice assignment notebook which can be purchased through us or at a local music store.

To supplement piano lessons, we sometimes use flash cards to improve note-reading and to solidify our student's knowledge of piano terms and symbols.

Beyond their lessons books, we also ask each student to pick out pieces that they enjoy listening to, whether it is classical, jazz, church, country, rock or pop music. Encouraging a student to learn music they love, rather than only  teaching them unfamiliar pieces in a lesson book, can be inspiring and motivating. It may even change their course on the path towards becoming an accomplished musician.
